The main town on the Beara Peninsula. Castletownbere is a great town to use for visiting the Beara. It is Ireland’s biggest white fishing port and the second biggest fishing port in Ireland. Here lots of photos and photography of the region.

Whales and Dolphins

Whales and Dolphins have been around and lucky for some, Patrick Lyne from the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group organised a boat and a group of people got to go out for two hours to see the beautiful creatures. 5 Humpback whales, Minke Whale and a few hundred common dolphins. As well as numerous sea birds. The 12 people on the boat had a great time and saw some truly fantastic animals.

And a second trip out with an underwater camera to add some clips to the film, Basking Shark and Dolphins

Beara Charity Cycle July 2015

Beara Charity Cycle July 2015. The Beara Charity Cycle has had a change of circuit and a change of date. The new circuit allows for people to see the old Beara Road from Eyeries around the coast to Ardgroom. The date change is due to the clash with the Kenmare cycle weekend.

Back in town for a cup of tea and then the loop from town to Adrigole over the Healey Pass into Lauragh and back via the Festival of Eyeries.
