Allihies Five Mile Run

Allihies Five Mile Run. The Heart of Allihies Five Mile Run was a great success with about 120 runners of all ages running walking or crawling around the fairly tough five mile course. Although it was a fairly tough course the scenery is amazing and that more than makes up for the difficulty This will go on to being a yearly event. Thanks to all who came.

Dursey Festival

Dursey Festival 2015 a well organised weekend but unfortunately let down by the cable car running on Winter hours. Hundreds were turned away from the island. Which was a great shame as there was plenty to do and see on the Island. Even the mayor of Cork made it over and was almost stuck on the island. The cable car is Ireland’s only cable car and as such is a big tourist draw to the area. Which is well in need of visitors. In any case those that made it had a great time and there were quite a few people sleeping over on the Saturday night. Thanks to the Islanders for their hospitality.

Michael Dwyer Saturday Sunday

Michael Dwyer Saturday Sunday were busy days.

Saturday started with workshops and competitions. Dancing also from Cahermore National School. It was a great day with plenty to do, see and hear.

Later on in Jimmy’s Bar the Cork singers did their thing. A very popular group who also received a gift in thanks for their efforts.

Following on in the evening there was plenty to see and I hung around Jimmy’s to see Cormac and Cliodhna Begley doing a great set in Jimmy’s place.
