With the downhill start the pace was quick and by the time the runners had left Eyeries and made it to the main road.
Anthony Mannix from Cork Track Club and Donal Coakley from Leevale AC had a bit of a gap.
They were closely followed by the second group which included Aoife Cooke and Nick Hogan.
By the time the leading pair of Anthony and Donal had reached the half way point it seemed clear that Anthony was the stronger of the two on the uphill sections.
Fortunately for Donal, he was quicker on the difficult downhill parts and managed to catch Anthony each time.
It was a blustery day which made the conditions a bit tougher for all the runners.
By the time they had reached the three mile mark Anthony had a clear lead.
However Donal dug deep and managed to claw his way back level with Anthony.
Once he regained his position, he powered on through on a downhill section and took a ten second lead.
Donal ran into the village of Eyeries with a clear lead and took the finish at 27 Minutes
Anthony followed him 30 seconds later.
Nick Hogan made a strong pull and came in at third spot, followed closely by the first lady Aoife Cooke from Eagle AC
