Shanti in Pushkar

March the first came along and Nadette flew into India, So train from Udaipur to Ajmer and then a quick taxi to Pushkar for nine days of pure relaxation. Well I did a lot of walking and went for a cycle too.

Pushkar is a holy place where the atmosphere by Indian standards is very relaxed “Shanti Shanti”

Trains Travel Chittagorh to Udaipur

So leaving Bundi behind me I did a hard days travel to Udaipur via Chittagorh. Chittagorh has the biggest fort in Rajasthan, at least by surface area. So I had to take a quick look at it as the last time I was there was 29 years ago on my first trip to India with Nadette. Not much has changed except that now there is a whole industry of Indian travellers where as before no body was here.

Watch the day I had in the video below

After Chittagorh on to another train and Udaipur, also 29 years since I was last here and the town where a lot of the film Octopussy was shot.

In Udaipur I became friendly with Raju, he runs a chai stall and food stand, really nice guy so I put together a small film for him. He was so happy he invited me back in the evening to drink some whisky with him. I had a train the next day at 6AM so up at 5 was a bit of a shock to the head….

Lastly I started remembering old shots that had been taken before and redoing them so here is the first…

Day nine I stopped using toilet paper

Once I arrived in Rajasthan in the lovely town of Bundi I got to the cheapest hotel of my whole trip. 230 Rupees a night, with shared toilet. For some reason in my room on the beach there was a roll of toilet paper so I just kept using it, but now here in “real India” the paper was no longer supplied and I had to go kack handed just like the 1.3 billion indians do. There’s a lot to be said for it much easier on the bottom for a start 😉

Day nine I stopped using toilet paper

So I spent four fantastic days in Bundi, rented a bike and went cycling around and just had such a nice time. It was much colder this far north though so by the time the sun went down it was polar jacket and a few layers to keep warm and a nice thick blanket on the bed.

Bunty’s Ringo Star Restaurant

Bunty was a really nice guy, so I shot this video of him for the fun of it and put it on-line in the hope that it would create a bit of business for him. In the end I did a few videos for people and they were all just so happy about it, it was very gratifying.
