The main town on the Beara Peninsula. Castletownbere is a great town to use for visiting the Beara. It is Ireland’s biggest white fishing port and the second biggest fishing port in Ireland. Here lots of photos and photography of the region.
Dr Strangely Strange High Tide Club on Friday the 17th of May a good show by the lads in Sarah Walkers gallery also known as the High Tide Club. They had the audience in the palm of their hands. Unsurprising as they have been playing together for a number of years….The new group “The Bunties” played before as support act and sang a good half dozen songs to warm up the crowd..
Castletownbere Patricks day celebrations were a great success today with many people out to take part in the St. Patrick’s day parade. The weather stayed good but it was a bit chilly after a while. Some great costumes and floats were on show. Plenty of people having fun in the streets of Castletownbere.
Lots of photos here try and find yourself….

Cork Storm again and again, unrelenting storms hitting the coast of Ireland since Christmas, this one seems to be the worst yet with a recorded 98 miles per hour wind speed. All of the fishing vessels are hiding in Bantry bay to avoid the terrible weather. The ESB are dealing with tens of thousands of outages across the country and Munster is receiving its worst weather in over twenty years. Trees are down on the road around Dunboy and bits of debris are sliding along the roads. Neil is hoping that the power cuts will happen again tomorrow so he can get a day off school….
This was typed 24 hours ago, we had a power cut of 22 hours and the total numbers affected came to 250000…
